PIGMENTATION OF THE HEART IN THE BICHIR, POLYPTERUS SENEGALUS

It has been even suggested that dark pigmented cells are exclusively associated with hearts having two atria and two ventricles. The aim here is to report the occurrence of pigment cells in the heart of the bichir, an extant representative of the polypteriformes, an ancient ray-finned fish lineage that split from the stem of the actinopterygians soon after their divergence from the sarcopterygians. The bichir heart is composed of sinus venosus, atrium, ventricle, conus arteriosus and bulbus arteriosus arranged sequentially within the pericardial cavity. Dendritic-shaped cells containing melanosomes were found in the five cardiac components of the 12 bichirs included in this study. Numerous melanophores were distributed regularly over the surface of all segments having myocardium in their walls, thus resulting in a marked pigmentation of the whole heart. The bulbus arteriosus, which in the bichir is reduced in size, showed an even more intense pigmentation. In all instances, the melanophores were localized in the subepicardial space. Pigment cells also occurred in the pericardium and ventral aorta. The functional role of melanocytes in the tetrapod heart remains obscure. Antiinflamatory activity, cytoprotection and effects on the viscoelastic properties of the cardiac tissue have been adduced as possible actions of such cells. The role of pigment cells in the bichir heart constitutes a new open question. Interestingly, however, the only cells that have been shown to form melanin-containing cells in the heart derive from the neural crest. If the melanophores of the bichir heart are indeed of neural crest origin, it would suggest a much more extensive contribution and persistence of elements from the neural crest in the primitive heart of jawed vertebrates as assumed so far in most papers devoted to vertebrate heart embryology.Proyecto CGL2010-16417/BOS; Fondos FEDER; Beca FPI ref. Novel Findings about Double-Loaded Curcumin-in-HPβcyclodextrin-in Liposomes: Effects on the Lipid Bilayer and Drug Release

In this study, the encapsulation of curcumin (Cur) in “drug-in-cyclodextrin-in-liposomes (DCL)” by following the double-loading technique (DL) was proposed, giving rise to DCL–DL. The aim was to analyze the effect of cyclodextrin (CD) on the physicochemical, stability, and drug-release properties of liposomes. After selecting didodecyldimethylammonium bromide (DDAB) as the cationic lipid, DCL–DL was formulated by adding 2-hydroxypropyl-α/β/γ-CD (HPβCD)–Cur complexes into the aqueous phase. A competitive effect of cholesterol (Cho) for the CD cavity was found, so cholesteryl hemisuccinate (Chems) was used. The optimal composition of the DCL–DL bilayer was obtained by applying Taguchi methodology and regression analysis. Vesicles showed a lower drug encapsulation efficiency compared to conventional liposomes (CL) and CL containing HPβCD in the aqueous phase. However, the presence of HPβCD significantly increased vesicle deformability and Cur antioxidant activity over time. In addition, drug release profiles showed a sustained release after an initial burst effect, fitting to the Korsmeyer-Peppas kinetic model. Moreover, a direct correlation between the area under the curve (AUC) of dissolution profiles and flexibility of liposomes was obtained. It can be concluded that these “drug-in-cyclodextrin-in-deformable” liposomes in the presence of HPβCD may be a promising carrier for increasing the entrapment efficiency and stability of Cur without compromising the integrity of the liposome bilayer

Non-uniqueness for the nonlocal Liouville equation in R\mathbb{R} and applications

We construct multiple solutions to the nonlocal Liouville equation \begin{equation} \label{eqk} \tag{L} (-\Delta)^{\frac{1}{2}} u = K(x) e^u \quad \mbox{ in } \mathbb{R}. \end{equation} More precisely, for $K$ of the form $K(x) = 1+\varepsilon \kappa(x)$ with $\varepsilon \in (0,1)$ small and $\kappa \in C^{1,\alpha}(\mathbb{R}) \cap L^{\infty}(\mathbb{R})$ for some $\alpha > 0$, we prove existence of multiple solutions to \eqref{eqk} bifurcating from the bubbles. These solutions provide examples of flat metrics in the half-plane with prescribed geodesic curvature $K(x)$ on its boundary. Furthermore, they imply the existence of multiple ground state soliton solutions for the Calogero-Moser derivative NLS

La enseñanza a través del diálogo en la formación de formadores/as : El caso de la Didáctica de la Lengua y la Literatura en un ISFD

Este trabajo indaga la posibilidad de una práctica de enseñanza y aprendizaje por medio del diálogo en el ámbito de la formación de formadores. Pondremos en tensión la construcción del saber enseñado con el saber sabio en el ámbito académico, en el cual se configuran miradas, ideas y relaciones diversas en relación con la enseñanza. Desde la tarea de formación docente en Didáctica de la Lengua y la Literatura I y II del profesorado de Lengua y Literatura del ISFD Nº3 de San Martín de los Andes, se postuló una intervención didáctica centrada fuertemente en los intercambios orales así como en la producción de variados géneros textuales.
